We will depart from the hotel, and drive into the heart of a typical local Gambian community. This offers an unique experience to experience tradition, culture and the way most Gambians live.
We start the village tour by visiting a local compound to interact with the people living there to learn more about the extended family structure in the Gambia and make memories you will never forget. In The Gambia hospitality is a natural part of life and many enjoy sharing stories and laughter with visitors. You can participate, if you wish, in activities like fetching water from the well or pounding spices, we will visit the womens garden, learn about their stories, and their way of life and they will tell you about how horticulture is done in The Gambia.
We will stop and talk about some of the important trees in the Gambia, such as mango, baobab or cashew trees, if it´s season you might even get a test of fresh fruit!
From there we will go to a local school to learn more The Gambia education system, the children will welcome us with a big smiles, laughter, songs, and endless energy, school materials and donation to support the school are welcome but it not compulsory. This tour is not just about sightseeing it is about experiencing the real life of The Gambia.
