Makasutu is a wildlife reserve located near Brikama. The reserve is aproximately 1000 acres and is home to many birds and animals. The plants and trees that grow here have been widely used to cure illnesses, make marriages stronger and to boost fertility. The forest it self is believed to be sacred and the legend says that the Ninki Nanka* is guarding it.
Our adventure began with a guide. We will take a peaceful canoe ride through the mangroves, we will see stunning birdlife and other wildlife, after the canoe ride we will visit the base camp and climbed the observation tower to have stunning views of the forest and the surrounding landscape. next we will go on a guided forest walk to learn about the different plants and trees as well as the traditional uses for them. The forest is famous for its large troop of roughly 200 baboons, along the way we will encountered them.
And there is traditional plant doctor fortune teller. And we will meet a local palm wine jungle juice tapper, he will demonstrated how palm wine is harvested and explained the fermentation process, and you can taste the freshly palm wine jungle juice and climb the tree.
