This tour you will visit the following places:

BANJUL CITY TOUR
In this tour we explore the capital city and discover more about The Gambia. We will visit The National Museum of the Gambia, The Arch 22 monument and Albert market.

SOUTH GAMBIA TOUR
On this tour we head to south Gambia and visit Sanyang which has the most beautiful beach in the whole Gambia. We also visit Tanje – a vibrant fishing village.

Albert Market
We will visit the colorful and lively Albert market, it a street market full of energy. It named after Queen Victoria´s husband Prince Albert Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The market is divided in to three sections. The wholesale, retail market, the food market and the tourist market.
There is a riverbank few meters behind the market. You can watch pirogues traditional boats. And the ferries come and go.

Brikama woodcarving factory
The woodcarving factory. Is the largest woodcarving factory in the Gambia. Aproximately 200 woodcarvers are members and here you can find various items made from different woodtypes. The market features over 50 stalls. Selling vibrant tie dye fabrics, handmade leather, sandals and traditional jewelrys. We will explore the market to see various of items.

The Arch 22
We will climb upstairs. And you will a outstanding view of the capital. Upstairs there is small museum. Which has some interesting historic events. And artifacts about The Gambia. The Arch 22 is a monument located in on the Banjul-Serrekunda Highway. The monument was built to mark the military coup in 1994 through which former president Yahya Jammeh came to power.
The arch is 35 meters high and is designed by a senegalese architect called Pierre Goudiaby Atepa, Goudiaby Atepa hasdesigned a lot of interesting buildings such as the BCEAO bank headquarters in Dakar and the ECOWAS building in Lomé, Togo.

The National museum of The Gambia
We will visit The National museum of the Gambia. The biggest museum in The Gambia. It obtained all one has to know about historical and cultural, artefacts, from the prehistoric times to the modern era.
The museum opened in 1985 and has an archeological section and also a historical section. The exhibitions are curated by mr Hassoum Ceesay who is a well known historian.

The Serekunda Market
if you are looking to feel the real soul 0f The Gambia, there`s no better place than serekunda market.
The Serekunda Market is the largest and most vibrant commercial hub in The Gambia. it not just a Market it a living museum of Gambian daily life. Here you can find everything imaginable. The market is divided into three different sections, one for food, one for clothing, and one for all other kind of items, such as household goods, fresh tropical fruits, vegetables, electronics, bike, repair kits, and even live music. There is also a small section for handcrafted souvenirs, but if this is your main objective, we would suggest a trip to the Brikama Wood Carving market, or to the Albert Market in Banjul instead.
The market is active daily the energy is wild and the colors endless. And is built like a labyrinth of small, crowded, alleys. Serekunda Market is one of our most appreciated trip destinations..

Kachikally Crocodile Pool and Museum
The Kachikally Crocodile Pool is known for it healing powers. People from different part of The Gambia still visit this holy place. And is home to roughly 80 to 100 West African crocodiles. The crocodiles are docile and you can actually touch them and take photos with them. Onsite there also is a museum that displays Gambian history. Traditional musical instruments, artifacts, photographs masks, ancient tools. The museum gives visitors opportunity to truly understand the culture, traditions, and history of the people of The Gambia.

Makasutu cultural forrest
One of the Gambia´s stunning natural treasure. learn about nature, culture, and so on. All in one place.
We will be welcomed by traditional local musicians playing instruments like the kora.
Makasutu is a wildlife reserve located near Brikama. The reserve is aproximately 1000 acres and is home to many birds and animals. The plants and trees that grow here have been widely used to cure illnesses, make marriages stronger and to boost fertility. The forest it self is believed to be sacred and the legend says that the Ninki Nanka* is guarding it.
Our adventure began with a guide. We will take a peaceful canoe ride through the mangroves, we will see stunning birdlife and other wildlife, after the canoe ride we will visit the base camp and climbed the observation tower to have stunning views of the forest and the surrounding landscape. next we will go on a guided forest walk to learn about the different plants and trees as well as the traditional uses for them. The forest is famous for its large troop of roughly 200 baboons, along the way we will encountered them.
And there is traditional plant doctor fortune teller. And we will meet a local palm wine jungle juice tapper, he will demonstrated how palm wine is harvested and explained the fermentation process, and you can taste the freshly palm wine jungle juice and climb the tree.

Cooking expedition
Learn how to cook a traditional Gambian dish such as DOMODA: a savoury peanut stew, pumpkin. Fish/beef. YASSA: mustard and onion, lemon, chicken/fish. BENACHIN: vibrant dish it combines rice, tomato, cabbage, carrots, and your choice of meat or fish mix with an array of spices.
The day starts at 9 am when our driver comes to pick you. We will let you to change into a local outfit. After you will go to the bustling market stalls with your basket in the hand to source fresh vegetables fish. Spices and other essential ingredients as locals do in the Gambia.
Upon your return to Jatoos home cooking center. You will fully participate with Jatoo and her team you will receive expert guidance to preparing one of the dishes of your choice.
After the meal is ready you will sit down to enjoy your freshly meal for lunch every bite tells a story of culture and tradition. This communal dining experience is unique and ecstasy. After the meal is accompanied by refreshing local drinks like wonjo (hibiscus flowers juice) and baobab (a creamy nutrient rich drink made from baobab tree)
After the session our driver will take you back to the hotel.
The ending time of the class varies, depending on the time it takes to buy the ingredients at the market and the size of the group that is cooking, but it usually ends sometime between 3 pm -5 pm

Fathala – Senegal safari
Experience the wild side of Africa with us on an unforgettable safari at Fathala Wildlife Reserve.
We depart early from the hotel (6 am) and drive to the Banjul ferry terminal to catch the ferry to Barra, located on the north bank of The Gambia. We will board an open top land rover and drive to the Gambia Senegal border for the usual passport stamping and checks. After the formalities is completed we will proceeded to our main destination – Fathala Wildlife Reserve. We will ride through beautiful natural landscapes surrounded by tall trees and calm wilderness. And you will get up close to majestic animals roaming freely in their natural environment.
The Fathala Reserve consists of 6000 hectares of protected forrest and is home to many animals such as lions, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, water buffaloes, rhinos and different kind of birds and monkeys. There is also a optional lion walk where you have the chance to walk side by side with wild lions, an experience of a life time. (Obs. not included in the price). The visitor center in the reserve also houses a cafeteria where you can get refreshments.
On our way back to the ferry, we will stop by a restaurant for lunch and briefly visit a local community. After that we will continue to catch the ferry back to Banjul where our vehicle awaits to drive us back to the hotel.

Kunta kinteh Island
There are two ways how you can get this tour. Either by car or by boat.
With the car we will depart from the hotel 7am drive to Banjul and cross the river by ferry to Barra. From there we will continue by car to the villages Juffureh and Albreda. And we take boat to take us to the Kunta Kinteh Island. We will back to the mainland drive to Barra cross the river to Banjul and drive to your hotel.
With the boat we will depart from the hotel 7am drive to Denton Bridge we will take a boat sail to Kunta Kinteh Island. And we will visit Juffureh and Albreda. The boat will take us back to Denton Bridge and back to the car and we drive to your hotel.
You´ve probably heard about (or read) the famous book Roots, by Alex Haley. The book is about a young Mandinka boy called Kunta Kinteh who is captured in his home village Juffure by slave traders. He is exposed to the cruelties of the westerners and is taken to America to be sold as a slave. The book tells the disturbing story of the lives of Kunta Kinteh and his descendants.
Kunta Kinteh island is a small island located in the Gambia river. It is an important historical site due to it´s history with the slave trade and has also been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The colonialists first came to the island in 1456 in search of gold in the Gambia river. In 1661 the English got hold of the island and started using it as their base for the slave trade. The Royal African Company shipped more slaves to America than any other company.

Monkey park
One of The Gambia´s happiest and most relaxing places to visit. Surrounded by nature and filled with playful friendly monkeys.
The Bijilo Forrest park. Also known as the monkey park. Is located near Senegambia. The Forest park is a protected nature reserve and serves as a home to a lot of different monkeys like green vervet monkeys. Western red colobus, senegal bushbabies and campbell’s mona monkeys.
The park is also good for birdwatching since a lot of different birds can be seen here.
There is over 4,5km of signposted foothpaths where you can walk and hear the sounds of nature make it around beautiful and refreshing. You can feed the monkeys and take plenty photos with them.

Visit a village – community excursion
If you want an experience that moves you and stays with you forever – then welcome to our village tour!
We will depart from the hotel, and drive into the heart of a typical local Gambian community. This offers an unique experience to experience tradition, culture and the way most Gambians live.
We start the village tour by visiting a local compound interact with them, to learn more about the extended family structure in the Gambia and make memories you will never forget, in The Gambia hospitality is a natural part of life and many enjoy sharing stories and laughter with visitors. You can participate, if you wish, in activities like fetching water from the well or pounding spices. we will visit women garden, learn about their stories, their culture, and their way of life and they will tell you about how horticulture is done in The Gambia.
then will procced to Bantaba – the traditional meeting place, where elders gather to discuss village matters. Here you will learn about the Alkalo – the village chief and the importance of the Bantaba in the community.
During our drive back to the hotel we will stop and talk about some of the important trees in the Gambia, such as mango, baobab or cashew trees. If it´s season you might even get a test of fresh fruit!

Lamin Lodge
Experience something special.
Lamin lodge a unique creek side rustic wooden restaurant and bar sorrounded by a dense mangrove forests, it offers a beautiful atmosphere full of wildlife.
At Lamin Lodge we will drift through tidal bolongs (creeks) of the River Gambia and along the way we will see colorful birds, local women in small canoes, harvesting oysters from the mangrove roots. A traditional practice that adds a unique cultural element to the trip, we will visit a gigantic tree called elephant tree or silk cotton tree, which stood strong for generations. It a great spot for photos, this tree is not just big it carries stories, culture. And we will visit a local factory where shells are processed into cement and paint.

Tendaba Camp
Whether you are a serious bird watcher or simply looking for something unique, this experience will leave you astonishing.
Tendaba Camp is one of The Gambia´s most established and lodges. Located approximately 150 km upriver from the coastal resort areas. Established in the early 1970´s. Tendaba is one of the first lodges to be established in The Gambia and is a popular destination for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
It´s located up the river in a village called Kiang Kwinella home to over 300 birds species. Including the African finfoot, goliath, heron and several varieties of kingfishers. The lodge features many rooms, ranging from traditional style huts and bungalows all equipped with private showers. There is also a onsite restaurant which serves fresh seafood. On our way home we will make an fascinating visit to nursery school.

Sunset river cruise
This trip is for all you sunset lovers! Witness the dramatic transition of colors over the river while the evening breeze cools the air.
The journey starts in the afternoon when we pick you up from your hotel to continue to Denton bridge, Banjul. There we will join a boat. Also known as a pirogue. On which we will be cruising through the creeks of River Gambia. After 2 hours we arrive at Lamin lodge. A creek side rustic wooden restaurant and bar surrounded by a dense mangrove forest. We will have our dinner there.
After we have enjoyed our dinner we will drive back to your hotel.

Kuntaur / Janjanbureh
If you are searching for an unforgettable adventure in The Gambia_ one filled with nature, history and culture_then this a destination you cannot miss.
We depart from the hotel at 6 am. In the morning and drive through the south bank to soma. From there we will cross the river to the North Bank via the Senegambia bridge to farafenni. We will have a stop at farafenni is a main commercial town a border between Gambia and Senegal. Here we will enjoyed a guided walk through the local market experiencing the vibrant countryside lifestyle, and we will have our lunch on the way at a spectacular restaurant offering stunning view. After lunch, we will visit the famous Stone Circles of The Gambia. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site, featuring ancient megalithic pillars arranged in circles. Dating back over 1000 years, they are burial sites. For an ancient, and they remain one of the most mysterious archaeological wonders in west Africa, there is a museum onsite about The Gambia history, particulary regarding Stone Circles. From the Stone Circles we will have quick drive to kuntaur.
Kuntaur is primary gateway for boat trips to the River Gambia National Park. Often called Baboon island, the park consists of six islands that are home to successful Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project. We will embark on a boat safari, take approximately 2 hours to see huge hippos peeking out of the water, chimpanzees leaping from trees. Red colobus and other wildlife. We might see crocodiles lounging in the river, after the boat trip we will rest and after have our first shore excursion to stroll around the rice fields, the rice fields surrounding the village, are vast alluvial flats used for intensive rice cultivation. Walking through these fields at sunrise or sunset is a favourite, for birdwatchers and photographers. We will also visit traditional Gambian hut to lean about family life social norms and cultural beliefs, you will have a insight into everyday lives of local families. After the excursion we will have comfortable overnight at kuntaur. Kairo Garden, it has cozy rooms, running water, decent toilets, and charming riverside view.
in the morning after our breakfast we will visit Janjanbureh was previously named Georgetown. And was at that time the second largest city in the Gambia. It is a former Brittish colonial settlement. And also known for housing one of Gambias three prisons. We visit local market, museum, old slave house and other attraction.
And we will drive through the southern bank for lunch, at Absca Creek Lodge located in the middle of a mangrove forest. After drive back to the hotel.

And porters carrying overflowing baskets of fish on their heads from the surf to the stalls, fishermen from across The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, and beyond all coming together in one place. Different languages, different tradition, one shared purpose. To hustle to survive. We will see a line of narrow brightly painted wooden boats on the beach. We will visit the sheds where fish are preserved.
